Today was the first Monday of the New Year and it was hustle from the get. I woke up and the first thing I did was turn on audible and run to the gym. To my expectation, the gym was packed with people trying to fulfill their New Years resolution. I hope the gym stays this packed for the rest of the year; I really, genuinely do because when it gets empty again in a couple weeks it means a lot of people fell off the boat.
This made me think how important momentum is in life. During the first few weeks of New Years, the gym is packed, people are hustling the hardest and unfortunately in some time it all dies out. I’m not going to rant about how resolutions suck because there’s already too much negativity about that on the Internet and now I want to rep the whole resolution thing because so many people are talking bad about it. And i just love proving haters wrong. As I was saying, momentum is extremely important and I believe we need to do things to help intensify our momentum every time were falling down the cliff or stagnating. For example, this new years momentum is going to die out by next Monday at best. My hypothesis is when momentum is a couple ticks away from E on the gas tank we need to fill it up with more momentum to keep the truck rolling. How exactly do we do that? If you have a goal dealing with fitness maybe purchase a fitness product to create momentum and make you want to hit the gym. If your working on your business maybe purchase some business cards or office supplies that’s going to improve your business and something you’ll be motivated to use. Small purchases tend to fill my momentum tank, find what fills yours. Motivational content is good but it’s for ephemeral momentum only. Also motivational content is tricky because odds are if you watch motivational content, you watch hours of it, instead of putting in the god damn WORK. Watch one piece of content and get your butt to work.
Moral of all of this, do what you have to do to fill your momentum tank to full when this new years momentum dies off in the near future. I hope you all crush it in 2017!
